EMILY came to GoodWorks in the Spring of 2006 on a missions trip with Chi Alpha Christian ministry through the campus of Wright State University. "We spent a week serving, building, and learning what it means to love others through community," says Emily. "After this missions trip, I was informed of the summer internship and came back to serve as a summer 2006 intern. The internship taught me a lot regarding meeting people where they are and how important it is to listen to the needs of others. I went back to Wright State after this summer a different person, not wanting to be comfortable in my everyday routine. I finished my degree in Middle Childhood education and was exploring options for the next chapter of my life. There is a spirit at Good Works that has a tendency to draw people to it and, despite a variety of job possibilities, I have come back as an Americorps Vista to live, learn, and love again for a whole year."
Proverbs 16:9 says,“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his path.” I was planning many courses for my life but apparently the Lord has more for me here to learn in another season at Good Works.
