Buddy Ballard
I was a resident of Good Works Timothy House in 2009. Through this experience I found the Kingdom of God. I was a stranger to this community and I found the love of God– a place I call family and home.
After leaving the Timothy House, I started a remodeling business, “Buddy’s Home Improvements.” During this time, I came back and volunteered helping with the construction of Hope Center on the Good Works Luhrig Road Property. I found hope and healing as I worked in the Hope Center.
Following this, I went back to the Timothy House as a volunteer teaching “Life’s Healing Choices,” from Celebrate Recovery, sharing my testimony and story of hope to others struggling with similar hurts, habits and hang ups.
I joined the staff of Good Works in June 2015, as the Coordinator for Neighbors Helping Neighbors and was in this role for five years. I believe I have experienced something God loves and accepts as worship or pure and genuine religion: caring for widows as it speaks of in James 1:27.
In August of 2019, Good Works broke ground for our new initiative called Sign of Hope! I transitioned into a position overseeing volunteers in the construction of a new home for people experiencing a disability who are also experiencing homelessness. It is really amazing to be working with people of all walks of life, not only building a house but building relationships and experiencing God in the work that we our doing!
Psalm 127:1 says, “ Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”
