Darlene Wasserman
Hello, I’m Darlene Wasserman. I have been a part of the Good Works community in various ways for over 40 years. I currently divide my time into two different areas- administration and community meals (Friday Night Life).
On the administration team of our community I am part of the support staff which involves record keeping, office organization, and overseeing our expressions of gratitude. Gratitude that our community extends to all those who generously support us in so many ways.
I also coordinate the meal portion of our Friday Night Life community event. Each Friday a different generous group sponsors the meal. I guide the serving and cleanup of the meal they prepare. This meal is open to anyone in our local community, and is one of the highlights of our week.
During the summer service season, I oversee the lunch we serve to our participants in the Summer Kid’s Discovery Program and any community members who join us for Summer Lunch. I have the privilege and challenge of planning and cooking, with a great group of volunteers, a hot nutritious meal that utilizes all the wonderful fresh produce that we receive.
I consider myself blest and fortunate to be involved in these aspects of the way we are seeking to love our neighbors here in Southeastern Ohio.
I also love reading, celebrating nature, walking, and trying to find a Mary Oliver poem that I don’t like (this has not happened yet, despite many years of reading everything she has written).
