Aaron Duncan

I’m Aaron Duncan, a husband, father of three, and a grateful follower of Christ. Growing up in church in West Virginia, my faith expression was not particularly concerned for the poor. Yet, God has at multiple points broken through my ignorance of his love and commitment to the poor, the widow, the orphan, and the stranger. Whether in my formative years seeing people in my church called “the least of these” being rich in faith, or in Bible College when I moved into a low-income apartment complex and made lasting friendships, or when I moved to Huntington, West Virginia to help plant a church where many attendees were in addiction recovery, or freshly out of jail with no place to live, God has challenged any lazy categorization of people. When in 2008, an employment opportunities followed by a graduate degree from Ohio University brought my family to Athens, Ohio, God brought us to a church with a ministry for people in addiction recovery. I met some people there who worked at a place called “Good Works.” I watched their lives and service over the course of years. When I was looking for the next step in growth toward Christ, the door opened at Good Works.
In 2018 I joined the Good Works community, where God is teaching me how to love others and allow myself to be loved in community. While I serve here with Friday Night Life, the Timothy House, and tending to information technology, I am forming and being formed into Kingdom community with the people of southeast Ohio. To add further blessing, two of my sons have served on internships here, where their understanding of faith and service has grown. My oldest son met his wife here at Good Works and the two have joined staff. I am grateful to be here, growing in Christ along with my family as I serve the people of southeast Ohio.
