Kingdom Summer Internship for teens ages 14-17
7 weeks: June 17 to August 2, 2024
(Tuesday/Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Friday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
Have you ever thought about what loving God and loving your neighbors actually mean? Or the even more mysterious question – what would these really look like in your life? Jesus pretty much said that loving God and loving people are the most important things we can do in our lives, but… what does it look like? And how do we find out our part in it?
This will be our 10th year of offering teens from local congregations an opportunity to explore these questions and discover their unique gifts through service, scripture, and community. We call it the Kingdom Internship.
The focus of the Kingdom Internship is service and spiritual growth. Interns will serve with other Good Works staff and college-aged interns in the following contexts: Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the Timothy House, Summer Lunch, Good Works Gardens, projects on the Good Works Luhrig Road property, and Friday Night Life. Interns will also be immersed in reading and interacting with Scripture pertaining to justice, mercy, and God’s identification with people who the world calls “poor.” Every week interns will participate in times of reflection and discussion (both written and verbal) about their experiences and relationships, what they’re seeing in Scripture, and what God is showing them through all of this.
The internship meets three days a week (Tuesday and Thursday’s from 8:00 am-4:00 pm and Friday’s from 1:00 pm-8:00 pm) for seven weeks each summer:

Teens who complete all seven weeks will receive a $400 stipend at the end of the internship.
Part of the application process includes a recommendation from the pastor/leader of the teen’s home church. In some cases, a pastor may be the connecting point between the teen and Good Works, but this is not specifically required.
If you are 14-17 years old and are interested in applying or learning more, or know someone who is, then please contact us by email or by phone at 740-594-3339 to learn more or request an application. The deadline for receiving completed applications is May 31.
