Merlin Ryan

My name is Merlin Ryan. I was born in 1963 at Sheltering Arms Hospital in Athens Ohio.  I was raised between Athens and The Plains at about the halfway point. Growing up, I went to The Plains Elementary in The Plains Ohio, then went to Athens Middle School and Athens High School.  During my senior year of High School and after graduation, I worked for an area restaurant. I have lived in central Ohio for past 35 plus years.

I started working for Good Works for 6 weeks in the summer of 2021 while I was also working for a place called Bedrock Party Rental putting up shelter tents for outdoor events.  I hit a deer on my motorcycle in March of 2022, so I was out of work unable to do much of anything till I started working with Good Works again in June of that same year. I’ve been working with Good Works ever since.

I work mainly with maintenance, by taking care of the grounds around on the Good Works property and help with some maintenance at the Timothy House and Sign Of HOPE. I have also worked with Neighbors Helping Neighbors a few times during the past year or so.

I live near Athens and take care of my elderly parents. I help them with some things if they need help; and I have a place to sleep there. If I have free time, I love motorcycling, woodworking, and fishing.  I also enjoy being around my friends and enjoy being out in nature when I can.
